How much it would cost in (american currency) to live in India (i.e. Bangladore)?

I am forming a debate on the ethicality of outsourcing American labor, and for one of my points I would like to drive home how inflated the services actually are in America. I've read in some preliminary research that making $10,000 annually in India is the equivalent living a life in the upper-middle-class here in the states. I was hoping someone could give credence to that.

1. USD10K will put you in lower middle class if with family and kids. As a single you will do good though I would say for upper middle class shoot for 40K..i.e 1600000 rupees per year After taxes you may net around rs. 100,000.00 which is pretty decent to take care of rent/schooling etc
