Institute of Policy Studies accuses western nations of excessive consumption of atmospheric space -?

. - and says they must repay "climate debt" by providing "the financing and technology required to cover the additional costs of mitigating and adapting to climate change" as well as paying compensation to less developed countries like China and India. Do you agree that we in the west owe such a climate debt to these countries? In an open letter to the UN before the most recent climate change negotiations, a group of NGO's and think-tanks said that they were outraged at the [quote] "excessive consumption of atmospheric space" of the richer countries and demanded that rich countries: [QUOTE] --------------------------------- "Repay their adaptation debt to developing countries by committing to full financing and compensation for the adverse effects of climate change on all affected countries, groups and people; Repay their emissions debt to developing countries through the deepest possible domestic reductions, and by committing to assigned amounts of emissions that reflect the full measure of their historical and continued excessive contributions to climate change; and Make available to developing countries the financing and technology required to cover the additional costs of mitigating and adapting to climate change, in accordance with the Climate Convention." ---------------------------- The Institute of Policy Studies, under the aegis of its Sustainable Energy and Economy Network project (http://www.envirolink.org/resource.html?catid=5&itemid=850925202448 ) signed up to this transfer of wealth and technology to the emerging economies of the world. 1. Morons. They can use as much atmospheric space as they want, it's not the fault of western nations that they haven't used it.
  2. ""a group of NGO's and think-tanks said that they were outraged at the [quote] "excessive consumption of atmospheric space" of the richer countries and demanded that rich countries: How could anyone agree with that. It is incomprehensible pure meaningless blather. The debt owed to them is just whining from a bunch of redistributionalist socialists. That is what is so incomprehensible about Europeans and others actually shelling out money for cap and trade. It is going to brainless whiners complaining that they are suffering from a barely noticeable increase in temperature. What is wrong with those people paying for absolutely nothing in the real world. Are there mental faculties completely dulled by excessive guilt or is it just easier for socialists to pull the wool over people's eyes. I just don't get how people can be that gullible.
  3. No, all this is is a huge transfer of wealth. These same people forget that it is the developed Nations that have been cleaning up their acts for 40 years. How come the people actually doing something have to get punished so that others can take our place? Don't these people know that China is the #1 emitter now? So shouldn't China take the lead since the United States is actually doing something.
  4. Admit the truth. The more developed countries, led by Spain and England, enthusiastically followed by most of the European countries set out to pillage, steal from, enslave, and subjugate all of the less developed peoples. They succeeded very well. Now it's payback time, Let's help all those people whom former our fascist governments reduced these proud people to a status that of beggar.
  5. Rent seekers and bludgers, the lot of them. Can't blame them for trying, but do blame the West for not slapping them down like bugs.
  6. Ingrates. Most of the less developed countries of the world would be far worse off than they are had not the West spent hundreds of billions helping them develop. Sure there’s more to do, but entitlement mentalities and extortionist tactics like this isn’t how it gets done. Conspiracy theorists suggest that the UN’s ultimate goal is to be the world’s sole controlling entity. Currently sovereign nations will cede their sovereignty to them based on their ability to enforce environmental laws, and the primary exercise of their power will be control of air, water, agriculture, energy, etc. And of course to keep peace between nations a redistribution of wealth will be required. Crazy as that may sound, when you read articles like this it really makes one wonder if the conspiracy theorists might be on to something.
