1. well, it depends on the time frame but for India their influence dominated the Indian Ocean and no others were able to compete with Indian and as India trading spread into China Buddhism spread to China too btw for India the merchants were more valued than the Chinese merchants and this is during the Classical time period Wasn't sure how detailed an answer you wanted so i just gave basics but hope that helped :)
2. BOTH CHINA AND INDIA WERE COLONIALLY EXPOLITED BY THE BRITISH! SO ACTUALLY NOTHING GUD FOR BOTH NATIONS...
