What good is cap and trade if India and China and others do as they please?

If the real goal is greener living what good is it for us to do it if they don't?

1. You nailed the problem. China and India are not only laughing at us but they will benefit as we outsource even more to them.

5. Have you ever been to L.A., Vegas, Denver, Phoneix, Chicago, New York - or any large city in the U.S.? The effects of pollution are quite visible and doing damage. Cutting carbon emissions will cut all emissions. Our carbon-based fuel is finite and imported. Replacing it creates jobs.

7. I am under the persuasion that cap and trade has a lot more to do with oil and that will not concern issues with china and india. I think importing oil from the middle eastern countries that hate us has to end totally, so if that is the target, as is proported, than china and india can do whatever they want, but we will be regulating things with them too but remember china owns most of our debt, so we have made ourselves vulnerable and it was not Obama that got us into all that debt by himself, it took a lot of people from both sides. We need green not oil.
8. Let's not forget the 98 page EPA study that shows temps actually DECLINING. Gore should be arrested for fraud.
9. It will give Obama more control of the private sector. Global warming is not about science it is all about politics.
10. The goal was a stealth tax on the middle and lower class. They pulled it off, the largest tax increase in us history. They dint care about the environment. Al gore probably wastes more electricity in a month then I use all year. The only reason this passed is, so many dummycrat power players are invested heavily in green energy.
11. All this is going to do is move more energy intensive production out of the US and into other countries. Steel and concrete, which are major consumers of fuel will go. More automotive and heavy machinery will leave. Shipbuilding will leave. Our roads will get crappier and unskilled jobs rarer. As a county we will lose power and wealth. Businesses will have to bribe congress to pass laws granting them exemptions. This is really just a shakedown. The global CO2 emissions will go up and do no harm. Our wealth will go down and do us great harm. In time we may wake from our national coma and hang the politicians who foisted this mess on us. Treason is a capital crime.

16. Obama says we have to lead in this - like who the hell will be stupid enough to follow! Crap and Trade will do nothing to protect the planet, and the other countries simply refuse to spend money like a drunken sailor (no offense to sailors). They told him so at the G-20 - so once again, Obama is pushing a worthless agenda that will only hurt us more. Bombarde Congress to stop this idiocy!
17. Cap and trade bill here is the first step. The next is threatening to cut back on trade relations unless China and India don't pass similar laws in their countries. Out of sight, out of mind just won't work anymore.

20. If both India and China don’t play along with this hoax, I would say, good for them. They did not fall for it, and we should follow suit. My guess the reason why we don’t is not because we want to save the world, but the government plans to use global warming to take over the private sector. The massive taxes that will result from the Cap and Trade Bill will be equal to 71, 000 dollars per family of 4 by the year 2035. Businesses will be hit harder. Obama and his henchmen are licking their chops to collect massive tax dollars and even take over whole industries because many companies will fail as a result.
21. Well, if one really believes that the intention of the bill is to reduce CO2 emissions, then it doesn't make any sense, does it? However, when one knows the true objectives behind it, it actually makes perfect sense.
